Johnson Development Completes Lafayette, La VA Clinic

Birmingham, Ala.  – The military veterans of Lafayette, LA welcomed the opening of the new Community Based Outpatient Clinic last week.  Johnson Development, in conjunction with BL Harbert International and Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, completed the development and construction of the Louisiana Clinic in September.

This new clinic will serve thousands of veterans in the greater Lafayette area and their families by offering services such as: primary care, dental care, eye care, physical therapy, and radiological services.  The new 29,000 net-usable-square-foot (35,000-square-foot under roof) VA Clinic has about three times the space afforded by the previous site located on Jefferson Street.  The additional space will enable doctors to see patients more efficiently while the design, layout, and aesthetics will provide patients with a greater sense of comfort and calm.

“This new community-based outpatient clinic will provide not only much needed space, but also additional services to meet the health care needs of thousands of veterans in south central Louisiana,” said Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood Project Manager Richard Painter.

BL Harbert broke ground on the facility in September of 2015. Following this milestone, the construction team finalized construction and the keys to the facility were formally turned over to the VA on September 9th.

Johnson Development is the owner and developer of the project. BL Harbert is the general contractor and Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood designed the facility. In addition to the Lafayette project, these firms are currently partnering to deliver additional VA clinics in the United States.
