In October, our Project Management team, led by Kate Dickson and Stephen Blackshear, celebrated the topping out of the Medical Properties Trust Headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. The facility is aiming to be one of only five buildings worldwide to be certified as LEED Platinum by U.S. Green Building Council, WELL Platinum by International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and both Zero Carbon and Zero Energy by the International Living Future Institute.
From the outset, the design and construction process has aimed to ensure that the facility preserves the natural environment, fulfills its own energy and potable water needs, creates an environment where employees can do their best work and fosters connection with the broader Birmingham community.
