OUMC North Tower Completes Occupancy

Our Project Management team, led by Gary Wilkinson, Jr. and Michael Barksdale, celebrated a major milestone with OU Health this month, with the completion of our transition & occupancy planning services for the OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center North Tower addition. The eight-story North Tower opened to the public in November 2020, with the new addition providing 144 additional patient care beds and 32 new operating rooms. This addition to the campus was the largest hospital expansion project in Oklahoma history and one of the largest in the nation at the time of award.

The services provided supported a multi-phased occupancy solution, with planning for those relocations starting prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the numerous challenges presented during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, OU Health and Johnson were successful in transitioning adult patient care operations into the new tower, while minimally affecting daily operations of the existing facilities and keeping the patient population safe and cared for.

We are proud to have been a part of OU Health’s efforts to ensure the safety of all involved, and now more than ever, we are thankful to collaborate with the healthcare community as they continue their life-saving work and pursuit of innovative, patient-centered care.
